PGA urges hospitality buyers to check source before purchasing
Louisville, KY -- As excitement builds in the Louisville area for the 2014 PGA Championship at famed Valhalla Golf Club, The PGA of America is advising local companies to check the source before purchasing any corporate hospitality packages for the major championship, to be held August 4-10, 2014. Please be advised that The PGA of America is the only source to offer official hospitality packages, and only official hospitality packages will be located on the actual event grounds at Valhalla Golf Club.
Officials for the 2014 PGA Championship have learned that independent entertainment companies have been marketing unofficial hospitality packages to the local corporate community. Some of these packages imply an affiliation with The PGA of America and the 2014 PGA Championship, and that their venues are located on event grounds. This is not true.
"We're concerned that companies are being misled about what they're buying and where it's located," says Kerry Haigh, Chief Championships Officer for The PGA of America. "The PGA of America does not have any legal authority to stop the sales of unofficial hospitality packages but it is incumbent upon us to warn those that are interested in purchasing packages to the 2014 PGA Championship that they should first check with The PGA."
As the only authorized sales force with official on-site 2014 PGA Championship hospitality packages, The PGA of America has developed hospitality offerings at various price points for companies of all sizes. Packages are available to accommodate anywhere from 10-100 people per day. Hospitality packages are all-inclusive, providing a premium on-course experience with parking, food, beverages and alcohol. Companies purchasing hospitality through The PGA will receive invitations to special events, and will have the opportunity to purchase merchandise featuring the official event logo and the buyer's company logo.
A further client benefit is the PGA's concierge service, which can help with accommodations, ground transportation, and other entertainment options in the Louisville area.
Unofficial packages for an event such as the 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla, do not allow purchasers on-course access into an official venue. In fact, the venue for such unofficial packages may be miles away from the event site.
"Every year, we get many complaints from people who buy these packages and then become upset when they realize that they're not on site, or even close to the golf course, and there are no official benefits included," says Brett Sterba, 2014 PGA Championship Director. "We're committed to providing Louisville companies with a world-class experience at a world-class event in their own backyard."
